About German Dramatist Friedrich Schiller Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller was born on November 10, 1759, in Marbach, Germany and was the son of an army officer. His father worked for Duke Karl Eugen of Würtemberg. Friedrich Schiller dislike of strict regimentation caused the Duke of Würtemberg to forced him to enter the Duke\'s military academy, the Karlsschule, at the age of 13. He studied law and later turned to medicine. When he was 21 he was appointed to a Stuttgart regiment.Schiller felt trapped and overwhelmed with depression and began to compose morbid poetry.
