The historical roots of the sanctuary trace back to 1542 when Father Miguel de Bologna, a Spanish priest, introduced the statue of the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception to what is today San Juan de Los Lagos, Jalisco, Mexico. In a poignant turn of events, a young acrobat's daughter met with a near-fatal accident, prompting her parents to seek burial at the chapel of Our Lady of San Juan. The chapel's custodian's wife fervently prayed for the child's recovery, and miraculously, she was healed, heralding the onset of pilgrimages to the Patroness San Juan de los Lagos. This exquisitely detailed, hand-painted sculpture, composed of durable stone and resin, stands as a premium tribute and gift to the Virgin Mary.
